i woke up from the deep sleep
to answer your call
surprised and curious
you never called so late in the night
hearing a muffled cry
i hurriedly put on the jeans
and with the speed of wind
kickstart my bike and rush to your place
a thousand thoughts
a thousand fears
knowing nothing
unaware of things
i scream past the skeleton traffic
beyond the reach of (the long arm of) law
throwing caution to the wind
in the middle of the night
after what seemed like eternity
i now stand outside your home
watching the sirens
slowly fade away
i stood there shell-shocked
the voice that i just heard 10 mins ago
now lay on the stretcher, completely muted
the face that i had seen couple of hours ago
now lay expressionless, under a white cloth
watching the wailing of the women
i stood my ground to confront the savages
that took you away from me
and left me stranded with a lonely heart
